MEDIA ADVISORY: Colorado Speaks Up for Columbine 10th Anniversary

National print and broadcast reporters will have all-day access on March 20, 2009, to those who were most affected by the Columbine High School massacre 10 years ago (April 20, 1999), including victims' family members, survivors and their families, key first responders, teachers and school staff, community leaders, and those who have led the charge since Columbine to improve school safety.

Denver, CO (Vocus/PRWEB ) February 17, 2009 -- National print and broadcast reporters will have all-day access on March 20, 2009, to those who were most affected by the Columbine High School massacre 10 years ago (April 20, 1999), including victims' family members, survivors and their families, key first responders, teachers and school staff, community leaders, and those who have led the charge since Columbine to improve school safety.

The event, "Colorado Rising - Columbine Update," will begin with a press conference at the Denver Press Club at 9:00 a.m., hosted by School Safety Partners, and moderated by international school safety expert and speaker, Michael Dorn. Media participants will receive an interview contact directory and a topic index.

Volunteer media coordinators will be on hand to set up one-on-one interviews based on reporters' areas of interest, such as education, social issues, technology, religion, legislation, and funding. Interview opportunities will address all aspects of school safety, including prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Multimedia elements will be provided.

The press is also invited on the same day to the Colorado Rising Luncheon at nearby Johnson & Wales University, where state and national school safety leaders will discuss community partnering, best practices, interoperability, and leveraging Federal funding.

This stakeholders meeting is co-sponsored by the Foundation for the Prevention of School Violence and SchoolSAFE Communications. An extended Q&A session will introduce latest important school safety developments in the public and private sectors.

The Colorado Rising press conference will begin at 9:00 am, and will be held at the Denver Press Club, located in downtown Denver at 1330 Glenarm Place, Denver, CO 80204.

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 am, and will be held at the Johnson & Wales University, Upper Library, 7150 Montview Boulevard, Denver, CO 80220.
