Illinois Medical District Presented with "Good Neighbor Award"
IMD's support of innovative job training program brings honor to the State.
Chicago, IL (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 8, 2009 -- The Illinois Medical District (IMD), the nation's largest urban medical district, has been presented with the "Good Neighbor Award" from The Cara Program in recognition of its support of their social enterprise, Cleanslate.

The Cara Program empowers individuals affected by homelessness and poverty with skills and resources to secure permanent employment and achieve lasting success. Their social enterprise, Cleanslate, provides transitional job opportunities to Cara students (all working-age adults) with more significant obstacles to employment, such as limited or no work experience, or a history of incarceration.
"We are pleased to recognize the Illinois Medical District for their early support of Cleanslate, and for the very innovative ways they have assisted us in fulfilling our mission," said Eric Weinheimer, President & CEO of The Cara Program. "The support of the IMD, both from its Commissioners and staff, has enabled us to be the organization we are today."
The IMD has been instrumental in providing training scenarios and operational facilities for Cleanslate as well as helping the program expand its reach into other communities.
