The US Drug Watchdog Wants To Talk To Possible Victims Of The Nasal Spray Zicam Who Have Lost Their Sense Of Smell

According to the US Drug Watchdog, "We want to hear from possible victims of the nasal spray Zicam, who may have lost their sense of smell." The group says, "On June 16th 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised consumers to stop using products marketed over-the-counter as cold remedies because they are associated with the loss of sense of smell (anosmia). According to the FDA, "It has now come to light the Zicam nasal product maker failed to tell the FDA about 800 consumer complaints." The products include: Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel, Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs and Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, Kids Size (a discontinued product)." The US Drug Watchdog wants to hear from any US consumer who has lost their sense of smell because of use of these products, by immediately calling 866-714-6466 or by contacting the group via its web site at http://USDrugWatchdog.com.

(PRWEB) June 22, 2009 -- The US Drug Watchdog has just ramped up its national investigation of the recalled nasal spray called Zicam. According to the FDA, "it came to light on Friday June 19th that, a day after disputing the Food and Drug Administration's warning about its Zicam products, Matrixx Initiatives Inc. conceded, that it failed to turn over to the FDA about 800 consumer complaints about Zicam nasal products." The US FDA called for US consumers to stop using the Zicam nasal gel and Zicam nasal swabs on June 16, 2009, because the product may cause consumers to lose their sense of smell. This condition is also called anosmia. The US Drug Watchdog is a leading national advocate for US consumers injured by pharmaceuticals, and the group wants to hear from any US consumer who has lost their sense of smell after using this product. Consumers are welcome to call the US Drug Watchdog anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://USDrugWatchdog.com.

People who have experienced a loss of sense of smell or other problems after use of the Zicam products mentioned by the FDA should contact the US Drug Watchdog immediately at 866-714-6466, or contact the group's web site at http://USDrugWatchdog.com.

According to the US Drug Watchdog, "if we discover drug stores or drug store chains continued to sell these products after consumer complaints, we will make hell look like a vacation destination." The loss of sense of smell can adversely affect a person's quality of life, and can limit their ability to detect the smell of gas, smoke, or other signs of danger in the environment. According to the US Drug Watchdog, "losing your sense of smell is a really big deal, and we intend to get to the bottom of this. Forgetting to tell the FDA about 800 complaints is also a very big deal."

The US Drug Watchdog is all about protecting innocent US consumers from what could be dangerous drugs or pharmaceuticals. Consumers who have lost their sense of smell because of possible use of the nasal products called Zicam should call the US Drug Watchdog at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://USDrugWatchdog.com.
