Troy, Michigan (PRWEB) June 5, 2009 -- SCPD announces a conference on "Revitalizing Innovation in America" at Michigan State University's Management Education Center in Troy June 10-11, 2009. The conference focuses on how US industry can regain its competitive edge. Lack of employee engagement with their companies has been identified as a principle factor driving the decline and death of American manufacturers as indicted by numerous research studies. Innovative winners in global competition are those who involve their employees as collaborators in developing and delivering new products and services instead of those who stifle creativity by tall hierarchies, centralized decisions, and bureaucratic rules.
With many companies in crisis, innovation in process as well as product is imperative. The conference starts by examining what has worked in America. Conference speakers from automotive as well as other American industries will share best practices of proven effectiveness that need to be implemented immediately to improve performance. Automotive presenters include executives from Ford, Chrysler and Toyota.
Conference participants will also learn from presenters from non-automotive companies that have achieved growth through cost-effective innovative new products and services, including Lockheed-Martin, 3M, Steelcase, Teledyne, and The Stanley Works. They will hear from innovation thought leaders who are redefining how you can successfully introduce breakthrough product and process innovations in your industry - such as Gina O'Connor (author of "Grabbing Lightning" and "Radical Innovation"), research leaders such as Dr. Paul Collins, University of Washington, and experts in methods of improvement such as "lean" and "concurrent product development."
This conference is different than others because it emphasizes the rapid transformation of knowledge into actionable practices. The goal is to learn from proven practices to fix what has gone wrong. Participants will co-create maps of how to lead innovation in their companies.
This conference is sponsored by the Society for Concurrent Product Development and registration is available by their website: http://www.scpdnet.org. The conference is co-sponsored by Michigan State University and the Strategy Research Institute, which serves an organizer.
