Franciscan Sisters feature an 'End of the Semester' Musical Reflection
The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity feature Carrie Newcomer's "Clean Edge of Change" as the May 'song of the month' at their Franciscanized World discernment page www.fscc-calledtobe.org
Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) May 14, 2009 -- "The Clean Edge of Change" was recently ranked 'a cool song' in a Franciscanized World survey. At an emotional time when the end of the college semester calls for vocation, career or summer transitions, the song, taken from Newcomer's release, The Geography of Light, is about navigating and exploring the appearance of light and shadow in our lives.
Ms. Newcomer reflected that "The Clean Edge of Change" was written about what "...it feels like on the other side of a difficult time period. The song acknowledges that sometimes there is no getting around a problem, you can't get over it, or under it, or even around it -- the only way out is through. But, when we emerge on the other side of that difficult time period, it feels like the calm after a storm or the deep sigh after a good cry. There is a clean edge to it. You don't know exactly what life will look like from here on out, you just know that it will be different."
The "Franciscanized World" page is designed to help discerning women see the world as Saints Francis and Clare did -- realistically, compassionately, finding good and holy possibility in the substance and culture of everyday life. Sr. Julie Ann Sheahan, OSF, Directress of Vocations for the Franciscan Order said "We want to present our life as a viable option for young women. Personal invitation is always best; however, we're convinced that real conversations can begin by using the language of images and music."
Established in 1869, the Roman Catholic Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serve in Catholic health care, education and parish ministries in thirteen U.S. dioceses (Green Bay, Superior, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Tucson, Honolulu, Chicago, Marquette, Jackson, Lincoln, Omaha, Columbus and Steubenville).
