Bedtime Stories Become Children's Book

It's a common scene played out in households around the world. It's bedtime, and the kids expect mom to read them a bedtime story. But in the Pagratis household, story time didn't mean just rereading the same books time and time again. Instead, it meant mom making up an original story on the spot to the delight of her son and daughter.

Dorval, Quebec (PRWEB) March 27, 2009 -- It's a common scene played out in households around the world. It's bedtime, and the kids expect mom to read them a bedtime story. But in the Pagratis household, story time didn't mean just rereading the same books time and time again. Instead, it meant mom making up an original story on the spot to the delight of her son and daughter.

That passion for storytelling moved children's author Maggie Pagratis to write You've Got Me Wishing For Wishes Again. The book, published under Pagratis' own Athse Publishing imprint, follows a young boy in Africa as he wishes for peace and happiness for his family and the world.

"Childhood is all about enjoying life; trusting and opening up to all the world has to offer," says Pagratis. "It is about seeing the world with hopeful and magical eyes. Once a child dares to want something, to wish something, they are on the road to success. The very first step is daring to wish in the first place."

Pagratis understands well the power of the written word for children. She has a degree in Literature from McGill University and one in Education from the University of Toronto. But most of her knowledge and inspiration comes from crafting stories for her own children and watching the light in their eyes as they wait to find out what happens next.

Pagratis is the author of 15 children's books. She is best known for her popular book Go Away Booboo!, which tells the story of a bruise with a personality. The book has been translated into seven languages. While most of her books have been focused on specific childhood experiences like getting a booboo, overcoming shyness, or making magic, You've Got Me Wishing for Wishes Again is perhaps her first title really designed to help children engage in positive introspection.

"It's all about seeing the magic all around," says Pagratis. "It is about dreaming big and beautiful."

The book is available on Amazon and through most online booksellers. More information is available at http://www.athsepublishing.com.
