CompassLearning Congratulates Burchfield Elementary on National Achievement Award

School named 2009 National Recipient of the Title I Distinguished School

Oneida, TN (Vocus/PRWEB ) December 17, 2008 -- The Tennessee Department of Education announced on December 1, 2008, that Burchfield Elementary in Oneida, Tennessee, is a national recipient for the Title I Distinguished School, a joint project of the National Association of State Title I Directors (NASTID) and the U.S. Department of Education. The program honors schools that have shown exceptional results either for sustained student achievement for two or more consecutive years or for Closing the Achievement Gap.

“Scott County and Burchfield Elementary have shown continued academic growth over the past few years and we congratulate them on their achievements,” explains CompassLearning CEO Eric Loeffel. “We take great pride in our role in facilitating student success and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”

This is the third national award in less than two years for the Scott County Schools. In recognition of this prestigious designation, Principal Randy Shelton and some of his staff at Burchfield will be attending the National Title I Conference in San Antonio, Texas, in February, where they will be presented the special award.

“We’re very proud of our success with CompassLearning Odyssey and what we have accomplished. This award goes to the hard-working students and teachers at our school,” Shelton said.
