Unique South Oceanside Pre-School Addresses Growing Interest with Expansion and Equipment Additions to Serve a Larger Student Population
The innovative pre-school option, Children's House of Oceanside, is doubling its student population of children 2.5 to 5 years of age and now features a second full time teacher to maintain the low child-to-teacher ratio. Along with the new classroom availability, the school will continue offering "before school" and "after school" childcare for working parents. School owner and lead teacher, Sherry Eklund, says her modified Montessori curriculum is proving to be a major draw for parents and it is the reason behind the growing demand for enrollment. "Parents are finding that our curriculum is effectively preparing their children for school by encouraging a love for learning. Our well thought lesson plans continuously interest and stimulate our students and this cultivates a joyful enthusiasm for more."
South Oceanside, CA (PRWEB) November 8, 2008 -- The innovative pre-school option, Children's House of Oceanside, is doubling its student population of children 2.5 to 5 years of age and now features a second full time teacher to maintain the low child-to-teacher ratio.
Our well thought lesson plans continuously interest and stimulate our students and this cultivates a joyful enthusiasm for more".
With over 20 years experience in educating young minds, Eklund has created what has been described as, "the ultimate learning environment in a pleasing home-like setting." Eklund's classrooms are complete with materials that encourage children to perfect a natural sense for learning through "hands-on" experience via spontaneous, self directed activities. An interesting look at what makes the Montessori philosophy so effective can be found at her website, www.childrenshouseofoceanside.com.
"What sets our curriculum apart from that of a traditional Montessori school or a typical preschool," notes Eklund "is our innovative blend of music and movement, creative arts, and recreation, combined with Montessori materials." Eklund believes this mix will enrich a child's early school experience. "In this age group, children are literally in a period of what's called 'the absorbent mind'; a point of peak capability for learning." She says her program helps students cultivate a strong foundation for learning while building inner discipline and a high level of self esteem.
Children's House of Oceanside is growing to a student population of 12 children with an expanded playground and additional new outdoor equipment. "It's important to include time for physical exercise and we have added several new choices for our students," says Eklund. "Play time works hand in hand with classroom academics," she explains, "by providing the important balance of exercise with intellectual stimulation."
Sherry's background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Montessori teaching credential at the highly regarded National Center for Montessori Education.
She previously owned and operated the highly successful Musical Fun for Tots parent/child programs that were available in many South Orange County and North County San Diego communities for several years. Eklund is also credited with developing innovative summer camps for children including "Girl Power", the popular empowerment classes for young females.
