Clark County School District (CCSD) Board Trustee, Mrs. Shirley Barber, features Wealthy Kids’ Financial Network (WKFN) CEO, Dr. Dwight McKinney at her monthly “BARPAC”.

WKFN is a system that enables parents, teens, educators and financial strategists to work together toward the financial success of youth.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) March 10, 2006 -- The “BARPAC” is a monthly open educational community forum created by School Board Trustee Barber to address issues, needs and concerns of everyone living in her district. Mrs. Barber wanted to give the families she represents a candid opportunity to personally meet with her face-to-face on a monthly basis.

The March BARPAC meeting will be held Wednesday, March 15th, commencing at 9:30 a.m. This event will be held at Canyon Springs High School Law and Leadership Preparatory Academy located at 350 E. Alexander Rd., North Las Vegas, NV 89032, (702) 799-1780. At this public community forum, Dr. Dwight McKinney, Co-Founder and CEO of Wealthy Kids’ Financial Network (WKFN), will be present to give a PowerPoint presentation highlighting his organization. Dr. McKinney will be discussing teen financial literacy, the benefits of co-curriculum development, partnership teaching, and why public school districts need to be much more proactive in providing ongoing financial empowerment opportunities for teens (13-18) attending their schools. Additionally, Dr. McKinney will be displaying the current WKFN student and teacher manuals for attendees to preview. Also at this meeting, Superintendent of CCSD, Dr. Walt Rulffes, will be present to give an overview of his plans for CCSD during his term.

The Clark County School District (CCSD) is the country's fifth largest, serving over 280,000 students who attend more than 250 schools. The school district's five regions serve 69 percent of Nevada's school children, including the Las Vegas metropolitan area as well as surrounding rural areas. Clark County currently has 1.8 million residents.

Mrs. Shirley Barber, a retired CCSD principal, was elected as a trustee, representing District C to the board in 1996 and has served as vice president of the board. Her many accolades during 41 years in education include the Milken Family Foundation Award, the CCSD Excellence in Education Hall of Fame and the NASB Leadership Award. She believes that children should have a strong foundation, beginning with kindergarten, and advocates parental involvement in the social and academic education of their children in community-based schools. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education. Mrs. Barber is a North Carolina native who has resided in Las Vegas for 30 years. She is married and has four children and five grandchildren.
